The same tree’s root, the same footprint — Hindus claim it as the feet of Siva, Buddhists claim it as the footprints of Buddha, Muslims claim it as Allah’s footprints. Birds born from the same egg.
In this, Siva is the most ancient and a generic conceptual story in Puranas. In the old tale, the Sun is seen as Siva, and all are children of the Sun. But Siva, Siddhartha — all are one.
Wherever you are, whoever you
worship, once Eve ate the apple, conscience, what is the
use of asking whom you worship?
It is like saying, “I am not my father’s son.” What use is there in
searching for the root afterward? Can you plant the homeland again by searching for the roots? Or
can you say, “Here we buried my father’s dreams and policies”?

Even if born from the same egg, you say, “I am not my father’s son.” Even if you take Vasudeva as a family name (surname), still he never claimed himself to be Siva’s child.
Puranas say that Siva, to protect Krishna from Kali, carried him across the Yamuna river (Jaffna Munai – Palk Strait) and left him in India. But he never claimed the Sri Pada was his father’s footprint. He only said he was beside Shiva, never said himself as a son of Shiva.

And yet, Krishna comes to Lanka and there too steals butter. But to protect Lanka, Siva gave the Chakra to the island itself. Later, coming as Buddha, he established the Buddhist faith, separated Lanka from Hinduism, inscribed the Buddhist doctrine, and safeguarded the land.
