Type A and B electrical socket standards are designed by US which has so many benefits. Some of them are listed as follows,
- Environmental friendly
- Easy and efficient production of perfect outlets
- Safety increased
- Energy saving - Area of conduction increased
- Earthed and earth free socket exists
- No need of rods to insert earth free plugs
But other countries such as United Kingdom (UK) had their own standard because they do not want to have the US stuff in their country. In Sri Lanka, C type has been used so far. Sri Lanka has recently changed its standard to G type which is currently being used in UK. Why Sri Lankan government has not chosen A or C instead of G?
Of course, there are voltage and frequency differences of the AC supplied but will not affect its usage. However, every electrical equipment demands a power need. for example, Electrical Oven - 1000W, Iron Box - 500W. It means that the Type A or B socket with present criteria of 110-127V 15A 60Hz can bear the load of 230V 7.5A 60Hz electrical equipments
.#power matched
Also, there are many people still using A type Chinese electrical equipments in Sri Lanka. But it is challenging to use mobile chargers comes with 3 pins of the UK - G type.
What will you suggest?
- A and B or
- G
Be productive
